German is the most widely spoken first language in Europe, the language of a great scientific and philosophical tradition as well as a major economy, and studying it to degree level means developing not only fluency but a genuine understanding of the literature, history and culture of the German-speaking world. At St Andrews, this four-year MA programme gives you the time to develop both disciplines to a high standard. In mathematics, you will study the core areas of the discipline, including analysis, algebra, and applied and pure mathematics, building a rigorous mathematical foundation.
