BSc Digital Business and Information Systems with a Year Abroad
About this course
Digital business and information systems is concerned with how organisations use digital technology to create value, how information systems are designed and managed, and how the digital transformation of business and public life is reshaping organisational strategy, operations, and culture. It combines management thinking with an understanding of how information systems work and what they can and cannot do, and it develops graduates who can bridge the gap between technical and business audiences, translating between the language of systems and the language of strategy. At the University of East Anglia, this four-year full-time programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study digital business and information systems from the perspective of another country's academic and commercial environment. The international dimension is particularly relevant to a subject whose subject matter is inherently global: the digital economy does not respect national borders, and the organisations most actively transforming through digital technology operate across many countries simultaneously. You will study information systems analysis and design, digital strategy, e-commerce, data management, project management, digital innovation, and the organisational and ethical dimensions of digital transformation. The degree develops both technical literacy and managerial understanding, training you to assess digital solutions critically, to manage systems projects, to understand data and its limitations, and to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Research and analytical skills are built throughout, as is the ability to evaluate digital change and its consequences for organisations and societies. Graduates work in information systems management, digital strategy, technology project management, systems analysis and design, digital consulting, and business analysis roles across all sectors. Technology companies, financial services, retail, healthcare, and the public sector all recruit graduates with this combination of business and digital knowledge. The year abroad adds an international credential to the degree. Postgraduate study in information systems, digital business, data management, or management is a route for those who want to deepen their expertise.
