BA Sport Business Management with Foundation
About this course
Sport business management is a field that recognises the sports industry as a significant and increasingly professionalised economic sector, requiring people with both a passion for sport and the commercial and managerial skills to run organisations within it effectively. From elite professional clubs and national governing bodies to sports events companies, grassroots facilities, and the media rights and sponsorship ecosystem that surrounds major sport, the industry needs graduates who can manage people, events, budgets, and business opportunities in a dynamic and competitive environment. At the University of Gloucestershire, this four-year full-time programme includes a foundation year, a sandwich placement year, and work placements, giving you both an accessible entry point and substantial professional experience before you graduate. You will develop skills in managing sports events, facilities, and people, as well as in identifying and capitalising on business opportunities across the industry. The placement element is a particular strength of the programme, with students having worked for a wide range of sporting and events organisations across the UK and internationally, gaining direct experience that shapes their understanding and opens their professional networks considerably. Graduates go on to careers in sports event management, sports facility management, marketing and commercial roles in sports organisations, sports sponsorship and media rights, governance roles in national governing bodies, and sports tourism. The international placement opportunities specifically open doors to careers beyond the UK in countries where sport business is growing rapidly. Many graduates also pursue postgraduate study in sports business, event management, or marketing, developing their expertise for more senior commercial or management roles within the industry.
