BSc Business Management with Finance
About this course
Business management with finance is a combination that addresses two of the most important and interconnected dimensions of organisational life. Business management develops the strategic, operational, and human dimensions of running an organisation effectively: understanding markets, leading people, designing processes, and making decisions under uncertainty. Finance adds the specific expertise needed to understand, evaluate, and manage financial information, from reading financial statements and applying management accounting techniques to understanding how capital is allocated and how financial decisions support or constrain strategic choices. This three-year full-time degree at the University of Plymouth includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and embedded work placement experience. You will develop financial literacy and analytical skills alongside a broad business management education, learning to interpret financial data, apply cost and management accounting principles, and use financial information to support planning and decision-making at the organisational level. The programme positions financial understanding as a practical tool within the broader context of business management, developing graduates who can apply financial knowledge to real organisational challenges rather than treating it in isolation. The sandwich year, year abroad, and work placements give you substantial professional and international experience. An entry tariff of 88 UCAS points reflects an inclusive admissions approach. Graduates from business management with finance programmes are well placed for careers in financial management, business analysis, accounting, management consulting, corporate finance, banking, and general business management roles across virtually every sector of the economy. Many pursue professional qualifications in finance or accounting, and others continue to postgraduate study in business administration, finance, or management.
