Mathematics with economics is a degree that applies the rigorous quantitative methods of mathematics to the understanding of economic systems and decision-making. Mathematics provides the tools, including calculus, linear algebra, probability theory, optimisation, and statistics, that allow economic models to be developed with precision and tested against data. Economics provides the conceptual frameworks and real-world problems that give those tools purpose, from the behaviour of individual consumers and firms to the macroeconomic dynamics of entire economies. The programme includes an integrated foundation year, making it accessible to students who wish to build their mathematical foundations before progressing to the full degree, as well as a sandwich year with a year abroad and work placement that give you professional experience and international exposure. Entry typically requires around 120 UCAS tariff points.
