Italian and Mathematics is a combination that might seem counterintuitive at first, but it reflects the genuine breadth of intellectual life available at a research university, where disciplines do not have to be adjacent to be studied together productively. Italian gives you access to one of the world's great literary, artistic, and intellectual traditions, from Dante and Machiavelli through the Renaissance and Risorgimento to the modern novel and contemporary culture, alongside the language competence to engage with Italian society, business, and academia directly.
