About this course

Business management is one of the most broadly applicable degree subjects available, equipping you with the frameworks, analytical skills, and practical knowledge needed to understand and contribute to how organisations operate across every sector of the economy. It encompasses strategy, marketing, finance, operations, human resources, and leadership, drawing on economics, psychology, sociology, and quantitative analysis to make sense of the complex environments in which organisations function. A business management degree is a foundation for careers across the public, private, and voluntary sectors, and its breadth is one of its defining strengths. At Bangor University this three-year full-time programme begins with a foundation year, giving you a thorough academic grounding before you progress to the main business management degree. The foundation year is designed to develop your skills and confidence across the core disciplines, preparing you for the analytical demands of degree-level study. Across the programme you will study the major areas of management theory and practice, developing both conceptual understanding and the ability to apply it to real organisational challenges. A sandwich year and a year abroad are incorporated into the degree, and a work placement is built in, giving you substantial professional and international experience alongside your academic development. Business management graduates are in demand across virtually every sector, and the range of career paths open to them reflects the breadth of the degree itself. Management roles, marketing, consulting, finance, human resources, operations, entrepreneurship, and public sector management are all common directions. The ability to think across organisational functions and to understand the broader economic and social context in which businesses operate is a consistent strength of business management graduates. Many also continue to postgraduate study, including MBA programmes or specialist masters degrees in areas such as marketing, finance, or supply chain management.
