BA Business Management and Law
About this course
Business management and law is a combination that equips you to understand both how organisations create and sustain value and the legal framework within which all commercial activity takes place. These two disciplines reinforce each other: effective managers need to understand the legal environment in which their decisions are made, and lawyers working in commercial contexts need a sound grasp of how businesses actually function. Together, they produce graduates who can think legally and commercially at the same time, which is a genuinely distinctive and practically valuable capability. At Liverpool Hope this three-year full-time programme examines organisations across the full range from small and medium-sized enterprises to global multinationals, including public, private, and not-for-profit bodies. The business management component covers business principles, organisational dynamics, management processes, and the challenges organisations face as they navigate uncertain and rapidly changing environments. The law component provides a grounding in legal reasoning and key areas of substantive law relevant to business, including contract, company law, employment, and commercial regulation. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and a work placement, giving you substantial professional and international experience that connects academic learning to real organisations and legal contexts before you graduate. Graduates of business management and law programmes find careers in commercial law firms, in-house legal teams, management consultancy, finance, human resources, compliance and regulation, government, and general management. The legal knowledge is particularly valuable in management roles where regulatory and contractual issues arise regularly, while the business knowledge is an advantage for those pursuing legal careers in commercial contexts. Many graduates also continue to postgraduate study or professional training, including law conversion programmes, the Legal Practice Course, or specialist master's degrees in business law, management, or employment law.
