BSc Business Economics
About this course
Business economics applies the tools and frameworks of economics to the decisions and challenges that organisations face in real markets. It asks how firms make decisions about production, pricing, and investment, how market structures and competitive dynamics shape business strategy, and how macroeconomic forces including exchange rates, inflation, interest rates, and trade policy affect organisational performance. The discipline provides a solid foundation in economic analysis, equipping you with the tools and insights to thrive in today's fast-paced business environment. At the University of East Anglia, this three-year full-time BSc develops your skills in economic theory and quantitative analysis alongside your understanding of business strategy, finance, and management. You will study microeconomics and macroeconomics, statistical and econometric methods, and the application of economic thinking to business decisions and policy, developing the analytical and commercial intelligence that employers in finance, consultancy, and the corporate sector most value. Entry typically requires around 120 UCAS tariff points. Business economics graduates work in economic consultancy, financial analysis, banking, the civil service, management, market research, and a wide range of commercial roles where the ability to reason analytically about markets and business environments is an advantage. The combination of economic rigour with business relevance also opens doors in technology, data analysis, and strategic planning roles. Many graduates continue to postgraduate study in economics, finance, or business, or pursue professional qualifications in accounting or financial analysis.
