Across the programme you will study the foundations of medical and life sciences including cell and molecular biology, human anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and pathophysiology, alongside the clinical and scientific applications that connect those foundations to medicine. The broad foundation the degree provides also makes it suitable as preparation for graduate-entry healthcare programmes. Graduates of applied medical sciences work across a range of healthcare and biomedical settings. Clinical laboratory roles, biomedical research, pharmaceutical and biotechnology careers, healthcare management, and science communication are all accessible. The placement year significantly strengthens employability and often leads directly to graduate roles. Many graduates also use the degree as preparation for further study, including postgraduate conversion courses in physiotherapy, physician associate training, graduate-entry medicine, or biomedical research at MSc or PhD level.
