Procurement and Purchasing Manager

AI

Procurement and Purchasing Managers find the best companies to supply things a business needs - from paper to raw materials. They negotiate deals, watch costs, and make sure deliveries happen on time so the business runs smoothly.

The role

What a procurement and purchasing manager actually does, day to day.

As a Procurement and Purchasing Manager or Director, you shop for things a company needs - but on a much bigger scale. You find suppliers, ask them for prices, work out what is best value, and sign contracts with them. You save money where you can, but you also make sure the quality is good and the supplier is reliable.

You spend time looking at what the business needs coming up, talking to other departments about their plans, and checking that suppliers are delivering what they promised. You also watch out for problems in the supply chain - if one supplier goes down, you need a backup plan. It is a mix of detective work, maths, and people skills.
