Learning and Development Manager

AI

Learning and Development Managers help people at work get better at their jobs. They plan training courses, run them, and check whether they work. Their job helps companies have skilled staff and keeps employees happy.

The role

What a learning and development manager actually does, day to day.

As a Learning and Development Manager or Director, you work out what skills people in the company need to learn. You might talk to team leaders and workers to find out what training would help them do their jobs better. You then design courses or bring in trainers to teach these skills.

You create training programmes that work for different types of learners - some people like to learn by reading, others by doing. You check whether the training actually makes a difference by looking at whether people use what they've learned. You also manage the training budget and work with senior managers to make sure the learning fits with what the company is trying to do.
