Advertising and Marketing Director

AI

Advertising and Marketing Directors lead teams that create campaigns to sell products and services. They plan the marketing strategy, manage the budget and make sure adverts reach the right customers.

The role

What an advertising and marketing director actually does, day to day.

As an advertising and marketing director, you lead the whole marketing effort for a company or brand. You decide what story to tell customers, how to reach them (TV, social media, billboards, emails) and how much to spend on each campaign. You work with creative teams to come up with adverts that catch people's attention and actually make them want to buy the product.

Your job is part strategy, part creativity. You study what customers want and what your competitors are doing, then plan campaigns that will make people notice your brand. You look at numbers to see which adverts work best, move your budget to the winning ones, and lead a team to execute the plan. You answer to the business leaders above you and need to show that your marketing makes money for the company.
