The degree includes a foundation year, providing a structured academic preparation for students entering the degree before the main programme begins. You will study the principles of electrical and mechanical engineering as they apply to renewable energy systems, covering areas such as power systems, energy conversion, wind and solar technology, and sustainable design. The full programme runs over four years full-time including the foundation year, and three years for the main degree. Graduates of renewable energy engineering programmes work in the renewable energy sector in roles including design engineer, project engineer, energy systems analyst, site engineer, and consultant. They work with wind farm developers, solar energy companies, offshore energy operators, grid management organisations, and government bodies overseeing the energy transition.
