About this course
Diagnostic radiography is the clinical healthcare profession responsible for producing and interpreting the medical images that underpin diagnosis and treatment across virtually every area of medicine. Diagnostic radiographers use X-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy, acquiring and analysing images of the human body to support the diagnosis and management of a wide range of conditions, from fractures and infections to complex diseases affecting multiple systems. The role combines advanced technical knowledge of imaging technology with direct patient care and the ability to work closely with radiologists and clinical teams. Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh offers this four-year full-time integrated undergraduate Masters and BSc (Hons) degree in Diagnostic Radiography, carrying a typical entry tariff of 136 points. As the course itself describes, diagnostic radiographers specialise in using advanced imaging technologies to acquire and interpret medical images, supporting diagnosis and management across a wide range of health conditions. The programme provides the theoretical understanding and practical skills needed to build a rewarding career in the field, with practice placements integrated throughout as a core component of your training.
