About this course
Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes, examining how people perceive, think, feel, learn, remember, communicate, and act, both as individuals and in social contexts. It draws on biology, neuroscience, sociology, and philosophy, and its findings have direct applications in clinical practice, education, organisational life, health promotion, and public policy. Combining psychology with Spanish adds a dimension that is both practically valuable and intellectually enriching: you will develop professional-level language competence in one of the world's most widely spoken languages while grounding your psychological understanding in a cross-cultural awareness that the study of a foreign language and culture uniquely provides. At the University of Chester, this three-year full-time degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society, which means it confers the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership needed to progress to postgraduate professional training in psychology. The degree covers the full range of areas required for BPS accreditation, including biological psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, individual differences, and research methods. You will study research design and statistical analysis in depth, developing the quantitative and qualitative skills needed to evaluate psychological evidence critically. Specialist elective modules allow you to develop your interests in areas relevant to professional career pathways.
