BSc Psychology With Educational
About this course
Psychology with educational psychology is a degree that combines the core of the psychological sciences with a focused application in educational settings. General psychology develops your understanding of how people think, feel, and behave, drawing on cognitive, social, developmental, biological, and clinical perspectives. Educational psychology asks specifically how these processes play out in learning and teaching, examining the relationship between the brain, learning, and development and how psychological principles can be applied to support learners across the educational system. At Edge Hill University, this three-year full-time programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society, providing the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership that is the first step towards professional qualification as a psychologist. You will untangle the relationship between the brain, learning, and development, build understanding of the core concepts of psychology, and apply your learning in educational settings through the sandwich placement year and work placement included in the degree. A year abroad further broadens your perspective on educational and psychological practice in different national contexts. Graduates of psychology with educational programmes pursue careers as educational psychologists after completing a relevant doctoral training programme, or work in schools as learning support professionals, SENCO roles, or educational welfare officers. Many also enter clinical, occupational, or research psychology, or work in roles in HR, learning and development, and community health where psychological insight is applied to supporting people's development and wellbeing. The BPS accreditation provides the essential foundation for those seeking professional registration.
