About this course
Psychology with education brings together two disciplines that, while distinct, share a deep concern with how human beings learn, develop, and function within social contexts. Psychology as a scientific discipline examines the mental processes, emotions, and behaviours that shape individuals, using rigorous empirical methods to understand what makes people tick and what conditions support or undermine human flourishing. Education as an academic field examines the institutions, practices, and social contexts through which learning is organised, and the ways in which educational systems succeed or fail in supporting the development of all learners. This three-year, full-time programme at Warwick develops your scientific understanding of psychology across its major subfields, including cognitive, social, developmental, and biological psychology, alongside critical engagement with the nature, purposes, and complexities of education in a globalised world. The programme includes a year abroad, which gives you the opportunity to engage with psychology and education in a different cultural and academic setting, adding an international perspective that is particularly relevant in a field that is increasingly attentive to how educational and developmental outcomes vary across national and cultural contexts. Graduates of psychology with education programmes are well placed for careers in education, teaching, educational research, educational psychology support services, and roles working with children and young people across health, social care, and the voluntary sector.
