BA Primary Education With QTS (5 - 11)
About this course
Primary education with Qualified Teaching Status is a degree programme that prepares you to become a qualified teacher of children aged five to eleven. It is a professional training as much as an academic programme: you will develop the subject knowledge, pedagogical understanding, and classroom practice needed to teach across the National Curriculum in primary schools, while also developing the reflective, ethical, and professional values that characterise excellent teachers. The QTS qualification at the end of the programme means you are immediately eligible to teach in state-maintained schools in England. At Liverpool Hope this three-year full-time programme is designed to help you engage and inspire children, giving you the knowledge and skills to become an outstanding primary teacher. You will gain substantial practical experience teaching in partner schools across the programme, developing your classroom skills under professional supervision alongside your academic study of education, child development, curriculum subjects, and teaching methodology. Liverpool Hope's approach emphasises a moral purpose in teaching and encourages an enthusiastic, innovative, and flexible approach to working with primary-aged children. The programme trains you to work across the full primary age range, preparing you to support children's learning, wellbeing, and development across the five-to-eleven phase. Graduation with QTS is the entry point to a career as a primary school teacher, one of the most important and rewarding professional roles in society. Primary teachers work in state-maintained and independent schools, in foundation and primary phases, and have opportunities to progress into leadership roles including subject coordinator, assistant headteacher, and headteacher. The knowledge and skills developed through the programme are also applicable in educational support, early years, and special educational needs contexts. Many graduates go on to pursue further professional development through National Professional Qualifications or postgraduate study in education leadership or special educational needs.
