Politics is the study of power: who has it, why they have it, to whom they are accountable, and whether and when it can or should be challenged. It examines the institutions through which political authority is exercised, the ideologies that justify or contest it, the processes through which policies are made and contested, and the deeper philosophical questions about what justice, democracy, and legitimate authority require.
