Politics and international relations is a field that examines how power is organised and exercised, from the design of democratic institutions and the dynamics of party competition to the management of relations between states and the global governance of shared problems. Politics focuses on the domestic arrangements through which societies make collective decisions, while international relations examines the international system and the actors, norms and forces that shape it. Together they provide a framework for understanding everything from electoral campaigns and foreign policy to trade negotiations and humanitarian crises.
