About this course

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession concerned with restoring and maintaining movement, function and quality of life across the full range of human conditions and ages. Physiotherapists work in hospitals, community settings, sport and exercise environments, and private practice, helping people recover from injury, surgery and illness, manage long-term conditions and maintain physical independence as they age. The discipline draws on anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and evidence-based clinical practice, and it demands both strong scientific knowledge and the interpersonal skills to build effective therapeutic relationships with patients. At the University of Bradford, this full-time three-year BSc programme takes you through the scientific and clinical foundations of the profession, developing your knowledge of musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory physiotherapy alongside the practical placement experience that brings clinical learning to life. You will work in real clinical settings with real patients across a range of core specialties, developing the hands-on competence and clinical reasoning skills that define effective physiotherapy practice. Placement experience in a variety of clinical areas is central to the programme's design, ensuring that you graduate with broad exposure to the range of conditions and contexts in which physiotherapists work. Physiotherapy graduates register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are eligible to practise immediately upon graduation. The NHS is the largest employer, with roles across acute hospital wards, outpatient clinics, community rehabilitation services and specialist units. Private practice, sports medicine, occupational health and international development also offer employment. Specialisation in areas such as musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation or paediatrics is supported by the profession's structured continuing professional development framework, and many graduates pursue further clinical or academic training as their careers develop.
