Physiotherapy is the healthcare profession dedicated to restoring and improving movement, function and quality of life for people affected by injury, illness or disability. Physiotherapists work across a wide range of settings and patient groups, from sports injury rehabilitation and orthopaedic recovery to neurological conditions, respiratory disease, chronic pain and the management of long-term disability. The profession requires both a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology and pathology and the therapeutic skills and interpersonal sensitivity to work effectively with patients over time. At City St George's, University of London, this three-year full-time programme prepares you for clinical practice across a range of conditions including cardiac disease, neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, respiratory conditions including cystic fibrosis, musculoskeletal problems and arthritis. You will develop clinical assessment, manual therapy, exercise prescription, education and rehabilitation skills, alongside the professional and ethical frameworks that govern physiotherapy practice. Clinical placements are integral to the programme, giving you supervised practice experience in hospitals, community settings and specialist clinics, where you will work with real patients under qualified supervision and develop the professional confidence and clinical reasoning that a qualified physiotherapist needs. City St George's location in London provides access to a wide range of clinical environments and specialisms. On qualifying and registering with the Health and Care Professions Council, you will be eligible to work as a physiotherapist in the NHS, private practice, sports medicine, occupational health, research and international healthcare settings.
