BSc Nursing (Adult) (Mid Yorkshire Hospitals)
About this course
Adult nursing is a profession dedicated to providing skilled and compassionate care to patients across the full range of healthcare settings, from acute hospital wards to community services, care homes, and patients' own homes. Adult nurses assess patients, plan and deliver care, administer and monitor medicines, support patients and their families through illness and recovery, and work as part of multidisciplinary healthcare teams. It is a profession that demands clinical knowledge, practical skill, and genuine human qualities, and it offers the opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to people's lives every day. At the University of Bradford this three-year full-time programme is delivered in partnership with the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust through the Mid Yorkshire School of Nursing, combining academic learning at the university with clinical placements across the Mid Yorkshire hospital sites and associated community services. The programme includes a foundation year route for students who would benefit from additional preparation before the main nursing degree. You will develop clinical competencies across a range of adult nursing settings, working under supervision with real patients from early in the programme, alongside the theoretical knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and nursing practice that underpins safe and effective care. Registered Adult Nurses work across the full breadth of NHS and independent healthcare settings, with consistent and strong demand across the UK and internationally. Specialisation is possible in areas including critical care, cancer nursing, emergency medicine, diabetes, and many others. Many nurses progress into advanced clinical practice, management, education, or research roles over the course of their careers. The partnership with Mid Yorkshire Hospitals provides graduates with an established route into employment in the local NHS, while the NMC registration the degree leads to is valid across the UK and recognised in many other countries.
