Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest and most fundamental of the engineering disciplines, applying the principles of physics, mathematics, and materials science to the design, analysis, manufacture, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Everything that moves, generates power, or requires physical structure depends on mechanical engineering knowledge, from engines and turbines to medical devices, consumer products, and the growing field of robotics and automation. The discipline is also central to the challenge of sustainable engineering, developing systems and processes that use energy more efficiently and have a lower environmental impact. At the University of Lincoln, the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree runs over three years in full-time mode and is designed to produce industry-ready graduates with product design skills, an innovative mindset, and the ability to adapt to new challenges and deliver sustainable solutions for modern society. The programme includes a sandwich year and a work placement, giving you the opportunity to develop professional experience in an engineering company before you complete your degree.
