BA Marketing and Management
About this course
Marketing and management is a degree that prepares you for leadership in commercial and non-commercial organisations by developing the strategic, analytical, and interpersonal skills that are central to how businesses succeed. Marketing focuses on understanding customers, building brands, communicating value, and developing the digital and data-driven capabilities that modern marketing demands. Management provides the broader strategic and operational context: how organisations make decisions, manage people, allocate resources, and navigate competitive and institutional environments. At Durham University, this programme is offered through one of the UK's longest-established and internationally triple-accredited business schools, a mark of quality recognised by global employers. The programme includes a foundation year for students who benefit from additional academic preparation, as well as a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and a work placement, giving you an exceptionally rich combination of professional and international experience over the full-time degree. Graduates of marketing and management programmes pursue careers across virtually every sector, in brand management, digital marketing, commercial strategy, consulting, product management, sales, operations, and general management. The combination of marketing expertise and managerial breadth is valued by graduate employers in FMCG, financial services, technology, retail, healthcare, and the public sector. Many graduates go on to professional qualifications in marketing or postgraduate study in business, management, or marketing, or move directly into graduate management schemes where both disciplines are in demand.
