About this course

Music industry management addresses the business, creative, and strategic dimensions of one of the UK's most successful cultural sectors. The music industry is not simply about music; it is a complex ecosystem of record labels, live promoters, booking agents, publishers, managers, streaming platforms, and sync licensing companies, all operating in a fast-changing technological and commercial environment. Managing within it requires both a deep understanding of how music is made, distributed, and monetised and the commercial and entrepreneurial skills to turn creative talent into sustainable careers. At LIPA this three-year full-time programme is built on the institute's strong connections to the music industry and its ethos of equipping graduates with practical skills as well as theoretical knowledge. You will study music business structures, artist management, marketing and promotion, music publishing, live music production, and the evolving digital landscape, all within a creative and professionally connected environment. LIPA's location in Liverpool, a city with an extraordinary musical heritage and a thriving contemporary scene, adds a further layer of cultural context to the programme. The typical entry tariff is 136 UCAS points. Graduates from music industry management programmes work as artist managers, booking agents, tour managers, label executives, promoters, publishers, sync supervisors, and music marketers. The entrepreneurial skills the degree develops also equip graduates to build independent businesses in an industry where self-employment and portfolio careers are common. Many graduates also go on to work in adjacent creative industries, including film, television, and digital media, where the commercial and creative skills built in this programme are highly transferable.
