BA Liberal Arts
About this course
Liberal arts is an approach to higher education that takes seriously the idea that the most significant intellectual and professional challenges of the modern world require people who can think across disciplinary boundaries. Rather than committing from the outset to a single subject, liberal arts invites you to explore broadly across the arts, humanities, and social sciences, developing a range of analytical perspectives and the capacity to connect ideas and methods from different fields. The result is graduates who are intellectually flexible, culturally informed, and capable of operating effectively in complex and changing environments. At King's College London this three-year full-time BA is innovative and flexible, allowing you to create a degree programme that genuinely suits your own intellectual interests. You will select from a wide range of options across the arts, humanities, and social sciences, choose a subject in which you will major, and study a language. A year abroad is embedded in the programme, giving you the opportunity to experience a different academic culture and broaden your international perspective. The combination of required and optional modules provides both structure and genuine choice. King's exceptional London location, at the heart of one of the world's most culturally and intellectually active cities, is a significant asset: the libraries, museums, theatres, and professional communities surrounding the university enrich every aspect of a liberal arts education. Graduates pursue careers across a wide range of sectors depending on their major and the subjects they chose, with strong representation in journalism, publishing, the civil service, international organisations, finance, consulting, law, and the creative industries. Liberal arts graduates are consistently sought by employers who value adaptability, broad knowledge, and the capacity to reason clearly across complex domains. Many also go on to postgraduate study in a chosen specialist area.
