LLB Law with Business
About this course
Law with business is a programme that reflects the commercial reality in which most law is practised. Legal knowledge does not operate in isolation from economic and organisational context, and lawyers who understand how businesses work, how markets function and how commercial decisions are made are consistently more effective than those who lack that perspective. Combining the rigour of a qualifying law degree with a substantive business strand gives graduates a rounded professional foundation that is highly valued by law firms, in-house legal teams and the many business roles that sit at the boundary of legal and commercial work. At Liverpool, this three-year programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study law and business in an international context, whether at a common law jurisdiction such as Australia or Canada or at a European civil law institution. The core legal content covers the subjects required for a qualifying law degree, including contract law, tort, criminal law, public law, equity and trusts, land law and legal research, alongside the year abroad experience and the business modules that span strategy, finance, marketing and management. The combination develops legal analytical precision alongside commercial awareness and an international perspective. The typical entry tariff is 152 UCAS points. Graduates go on to train as solicitors or barristers via the relevant professional routes, and the business strand makes the degree particularly attractive to commercial law firms and corporate legal teams. Others move into roles in compliance, risk management, legal technology, financial services regulation, investment banking, management consultancy and the many other sectors where legal and commercial knowledge intersect. Many also continue to postgraduate study in law, business or international commercial law. The year abroad typically strengthens both the graduate's language skills and their international professional confidence.
