LLB Law with Business and Management
About this course
Law with Business and Management is a degree that recognises how closely legal and commercial life are intertwined. Almost every significant business decision has legal dimensions: contracts are the foundation of commercial relationships, employment law governs how organisations treat their people, company law shapes how businesses are owned and managed, and regulatory frameworks determine what firms can and cannot do. Understanding business without understanding law leaves you only half equipped, and vice versa. At the University of Sussex, the programme offers a qualifying law degree alongside substantive training in business and management. You will study the foundations of English law, including contract, tort, criminal law, constitutional and administrative law, and equity and trusts, developing the legal reasoning and research skills that a qualifying degree requires. The business and management strand introduces you to organisational behaviour, marketing, finance, strategy and operations, taught by academics with direct experience at every level of business. The degree includes a foundation year, a sandwich year, a year abroad and a work placement, giving you an exceptionally broad range of opportunities to develop academic preparation, professional experience and international exposure before graduation. Sussex's location close to Brighton and within easy reach of London gives access to a wide range of business and legal employers, and the university's interdisciplinary tradition enriches the combination the degree offers. Graduates of law with business programmes are well positioned for legal practice, subject to completing the required professional training, and also for commercial roles in business development, compliance, human resources, operations and management consulting. The civil service, financial services and international organisations are also common destinations. Postgraduate study in law, business administration or commercial law is a natural continuation.
