BA International Marketing
About this course
International marketing takes the core principles of marketing, understanding people and connecting organisations with the audiences they serve, and applies them to the complexities of operating across national borders and cultural contexts. Consumer behaviour, brand positioning, communication and market research all work differently when you move across cultures, languages, regulatory environments and levels of economic development. International marketers need both technical marketing skills and the cultural intelligence to apply them effectively in diverse global contexts. At Glasgow Caledonian University, this four-year full-time programme includes a sandwich year and a work placement, giving you structured professional experience in a marketing or international business role and the opportunity to apply your learning in a real commercial environment. You will study the principles of marketing, including consumer behaviour, market research, digital and social media marketing, brand management, communications and campaign planning, alongside the international dimensions of the field: cross-cultural communication, global market entry strategies, international consumer research and the management of marketing in multinational organisations. You will develop both analytical and creative capabilities, learning to interpret market data and cultural signals, translate insights into strategy, and communicate ideas effectively across audiences. The combination of marketing fundamentals and international orientation is directly relevant to the needs of organisations operating globally. Graduates go on to careers in international marketing management, brand management, global digital marketing, market research, communications, product management and business development across a wide range of sectors. The international dimension of the degree is particularly valued by employers with global operations or significant export business. Further study in international marketing, global business or a related field is an option for those who want to develop specialist expertise.
