BSc International Business
About this course
International business is the study of commerce and management across national borders, examining how organisations operate, compete and create value in a global economy characterised by cultural diversity, regulatory variation, currency risk and rapidly shifting trade relationships. It addresses the strategies that firms use to enter and succeed in international markets, the management challenges of leading diverse multinational teams, the economic and institutional environments that shape business opportunities across different countries, and the ethical dimensions of operating across cultural and political boundaries. At Leeds University Business School this programme is industry accredited and delivered by one of the UK's most internationally recognised business schools, with a strong research base and extensive connections to the global business community. The programme runs full time over three years and includes a sandwich year and a year abroad, along with work-placement opportunities, giving you the opportunity to combine direct professional experience with study in a partner university abroad. These combined experiences develop the international perspective, practical skills and professional confidence that employers in global business roles specifically value. You will study international marketing, global strategy, cross-cultural management, international finance, trade policy, operations and the legal and ethical frameworks that govern international commerce. The flexible structure of the degree allows you to develop your practical skills through the optional industry year or broaden your cultural and academic experience through the year abroad. Graduates from international business programmes move into careers in multinational corporations, international consulting, global supply chain management, trade, financial services with international operations, foreign direct investment and commercial roles in international development organisations. Postgraduate study in international business, management or a specialist field is also a well-established route for those seeking senior or specialist roles.
