BSc Global Business Management (Human Resources)
About this course
People are the engine of every organisation, and the discipline of human resources sits at the heart of how businesses attract, develop and keep talented individuals. Combined here with global business management, this degree asks you to think beyond a single company or country, examining how commercial organisations operate across borders and how HR strategy adapts to diverse cultures, legal frameworks and labour markets. At the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, you will develop a fluency in both the technical tools of people management and the broader strategic thinking that senior managers need. This two-year full-time programme is structured to give you substantial international and professional experience. You will have the opportunity to spend time abroad and to undertake a sandwich placement year working in industry, with a work placement also built in, meaning you graduate with real professional exposure alongside your academic qualification. You will study topics that span organisational behaviour, employment law, talent acquisition, performance management, international business strategy, cross-cultural communication and leadership theory. The programme develops your analytical abilities as well as your interpersonal and professional skills, preparing you to handle the complex human dimensions of running a global enterprise. Graduates typically move into HR generalist and specialist roles, people operations, talent management, organisational development and management consulting. Many work in multinational companies, where the global perspective developed on this programme is particularly valued. Others move into graduate training schemes that lead to management positions across a range of industries. Further study, including professional HR qualifications and postgraduate degrees, is also a common pathway.
