BA German with Management Studies
About this course
German is one of the world's most important languages for business, science, culture and diplomacy, spoken natively by over 100 million people and central to the economy of Europe's largest nation. Combining advanced German language study with management education creates a programme that is directly relevant to the professional world: the ability to operate linguistically and culturally in German-speaking contexts, combined with the business literacy to contribute to management decision-making, opens doors across international business, European institutions and multinational organisations. At UCL, one of the UK's most research-intensive universities and home to a leading modern languages faculty, this four-year programme develops your German to a high level while grounding you in the theory and practice of management. You will study German language and linguistics, literature and cultural history of the German-speaking world, and the management disciplines of strategy, marketing, finance, operations and organisational behaviour. UCL's location in London, a major hub for German business and culture, provides a rich professional context for your studies. The typical entry tariff is 168 UCAS points. Graduates work in international management, consultancy, European institutions, finance, law, publishing, diplomacy, the civil service and the many companies with significant German operations or partnerships. Germany's economic weight in Europe means that German language skills combined with management knowledge are consistently in demand in financial services, automotive, engineering, pharmaceutical and technology sectors. Many graduates continue to postgraduate study in business administration, European studies, management, translation or German, or enter graduate training schemes in international organisations.
