BA French and Marketing
About this course
French and marketing is a combination that reflects how global commerce actually works: brands need to reach audiences who think, feel and shop in different languages, and the ability to work fluently in French alongside a thorough understanding of marketing strategy is a genuine professional asset. At the University of Stirling, this four-year full-time programme builds your language skills to a high level while developing your analytical and creative understanding of how markets function, how consumer behaviour is shaped and how organisations communicate effectively. A year abroad is built into the programme, giving you the experience of studying or working in a Francophone country and the cultural fluency that only immersion produces. You will develop your French language skills across all four competences, reading, writing, speaking and listening, while also studying French literature, culture, history and society. The marketing strand covers the core theories and practices of the discipline, including market research, consumer psychology, brand management, digital marketing, advertising and strategic communications. Stirling has a strong business school and close connections with industry, and the combination of French and marketing is particularly well suited to roles that span international markets. A typical tariff of around 168 points is expected for entry. Graduates are well placed for careers in international marketing, brand management, advertising, public relations, digital marketing, market research and communications across organisations with European or global operations. The ability to work professionally in French opens additional doors in diplomacy, the cultural sector, international journalism and trade. Many graduates also go on to postgraduate study in marketing, international business or European studies, and the combination of linguistic and commercial skills is valued across a very wide range of employers.
