About this course

Fine art is the practice of making work that exists primarily within the realm of ideas, perception, and cultural meaning rather than practical utility. It is a discipline that is fundamentally about developing your own artistic voice, engaging critically with contemporary and historical practices, and producing work that makes a genuine contribution to the ongoing conversation about what art is and what it can do. Studying fine art part-time allows you to pursue this development alongside other commitments, creating a different but equally serious relationship with the work. At the University of Sunderland this part-time programme encourages you to discover and develop your own perspective and ideas within contemporary art.
