About this course

Events management is the discipline concerned with the planning, organisation, and delivery of events of all kinds, from corporate conferences and product launches to festivals, sporting occasions, charity galas, and community celebrations. It requires creative vision, commercial awareness, logistical precision, and the ability to manage multiple suppliers, stakeholders, and risks simultaneously under pressure. The events sector is large, diverse, and genuinely international, and it offers careers in which personal energy and organisational ability are as important as academic knowledge. At Chester Business School, this four-year full-time programme brings events management to life with inspiring and real experiences, interactive learning, access to the industry, and the opportunity to develop and manage your own events, as the course describes. You will develop core competencies in event planning, budgeting, marketing, risk management, and logistics alongside the leadership and project management skills that professional event delivery demands. A year abroad is built into the programme, giving you international exposure and the opportunity to experience events culture in a different context. A professional placement year is also integrated into the degree, providing substantial hands-on experience in a real events environment. Events management graduates go on to work across the full breadth of the sector, in roles including event coordinator, event producer, conference manager, festival manager, sponsorship manager, and venue manager. The skills the degree develops are transferable to hospitality, tourism, marketing, and any commercial context where the ability to plan and deliver complex projects under deadline is valued. Many graduates also pursue postgraduate study in events management, hospitality management, or marketing, deepening their expertise for senior management roles.
