BA Events Management and Marketing (including a Foundation Year)
About this course
Events management and marketing is a practical and dynamic combination that prepares you to plan, deliver, and promote events of all kinds, from corporate conferences and festivals to sporting events, weddings, and cultural programmes. Events management is concerned with the logistics, people, and processes involved in taking an event from concept to successful delivery, requiring skills in project management, budgeting, supplier relations, risk management, and client communication. Marketing gives you the strategic and creative tools to identify audiences, build brands, and communicate effectively through digital and traditional channels to attract and engage those audiences. At the University of Chester, this four-year full-time programme is offered with a foundation year, providing an additional introductory year that builds academic skills and introduces core concepts before the main degree curriculum begins. The degree also includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study events and marketing in a different country and cultural context, developing the international perspective that is increasingly relevant in a sector where events and campaigns regularly cross national boundaries. You will study event design and production, marketing strategy, digital marketing, consumer behaviour, sponsorship, PR and communications, and the business and financial aspects of running events and marketing operations. Chester's North West location gives access to a range of venues, events, and industry contacts, and the programme is designed with practical professional preparation very much in mind. Graduates from events management and marketing go on to careers as events coordinators, events managers, marketing executives, brand managers, PR practitioners, digital marketing specialists, and in a range of roles across the hospitality and events sector, sports organisations, arts venues, charities, and corporate communications teams. Some graduates go on to postgraduate study in events management, marketing, or business, while others move directly into industry where the combination of practical event skills and marketing knowledge is valued by employers.
