BA Event Management CLN
About this course
Event management is the discipline concerned with the planning, organisation, delivery and evaluation of events across a wide spectrum, from corporate conferences and product launches to music festivals, sporting competitions, charity fundraisers and public celebrations. It is a field that demands project management precision, creative problem-solving, financial acumen, supplier management, audience understanding and the ability to perform under pressure when things do not go to plan. Events are also significant economic and cultural activities, generating substantial revenue and shaping the experiences of communities and industries. At Nottingham Trent University this three-year full-time programme gives you a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of event management. You will study event planning and production, venue management, marketing and communications, risk management, legal and ethical frameworks, sustainability and the business economics of events. The curriculum draws on NTU's strong connections with the events industry in the East Midlands and nationally, with opportunities to work on real events as part of your studies. The programme is designed to develop both practical skills and the analytical and strategic understanding that distinguishes effective event managers from competent logistics coordinators. Graduates go on to work as event managers and event coordinators in agencies, venues, corporations, sports organisations, charities and public bodies. Others build careers in conference management, festival production, exhibition management, sports event delivery, wedding and private event planning, and government ceremonial and public events. The project management, communication, financial and organisational skills developed in event management are also transferable into a wide range of adjacent roles in marketing, communications, hospitality and tourism. Postgraduate study in event management, arts management or business is also a pathway available to graduates who want to develop specialist expertise or move into leadership roles.
