English literature is the study of how language, narrative, and form have been used across centuries and cultures to explore what it means to be human. From the earliest recorded texts to contemporary fiction, poetry, and drama, the discipline asks you to read closely, think critically, and engage with the ways that writers have shaped and been shaped by their historical and social contexts.
