BA Digital Marketing and Politics
About this course
Digital marketing is where the logic of political persuasion and the mechanics of online communication converge, and few fields in contemporary life are changing as rapidly. Understanding how ideas spread, how audiences are built and segmented, and how campaigns are designed and measured requires both the conceptual depth of political analysis and the practical fluency of digital marketing expertise. A degree that brings these two disciplines together prepares you for a world in which data, storytelling, strategy and public opinion interact at speed. At Liverpool Hope you will study the theory and practice of digital marketing alongside political science, examining how political communication works in the digital age, how parties, movements and institutions deploy online platforms, and how marketing tools are used to mobilise, persuade and inform citizens. You will develop skills in data analysis, content strategy, social media, search and digital campaign management, alongside the ability to think critically about power, representation, and the political dimensions of communication. The programme is structured over three years and includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and a work placement, giving you substantial real-world experience alongside your academic study. The sandwich year in particular allows you to spend a significant period in a professional environment, testing and extending the skills you develop in the classroom. The combination of digital marketing and political knowledge is valuable across a wide range of careers. Graduates find roles in political communications, campaign management, public affairs and lobbying, advertising and media agencies, charities and NGOs, and the wider digital marketing industry. The analytical and strategic thinking developed through the politics component is an asset in any environment where understanding audiences and shaping messages matters. Postgraduate study in political communication, marketing, journalism or public administration is a natural extension for those who wish to develop their expertise further.
