BSc Digital Marketing (2-year degree)
About this course
Digital marketing has moved from a specialism to a core business function in under two decades. The ways in which businesses connect with audiences are now primarily digital, through search engines, social media, email, content marketing, paid advertising, and the analytics that measure what is working and what is not. Understanding how to use these channels strategically, to build audiences, generate leads, create brand loyalty and drive measurable commercial outcomes, is a set of skills that virtually every organisation now needs. At the University of Buckingham, this programme is delivered in two years full time, which is the accelerated format Buckingham is known for. The programme is compact but rigorous, covering the core disciplines of marketing alongside the specific digital skills that distinguish this degree: search engine optimisation, paid search, social media strategy, content creation, data analytics, email marketing, and the consumer psychology that underpins effective digital communication. The typical entry tariff is 120 points. You will develop an understanding of how digital marketing strategies are planned, executed, and evaluated, and how the principles of brand strategy and consumer behaviour underpin effective digital campaigns. Buckingham's small size means more direct access to teaching staff and a learning environment that is more intensive and personally engaged than larger institutions. The two-year format also means you enter the job market a year earlier than students on conventional degrees, which can be a significant practical advantage. Graduates from digital marketing programmes move into careers as digital marketing executives, social media managers, content strategists, SEO specialists, paid media managers, data analysts and brand managers. The skills are in demand across virtually every sector, from retail and financial services to charities and public bodies. Further study at postgraduate level in marketing, digital business, or data analytics is another route for those who want to develop specialist expertise or move into senior roles.
