BSc Business Psychology with Foundation Year
About this course
Business psychology is the application of psychological science to the world of work and organisations, examining how people think, feel, and behave in professional contexts and how those insights can be used to improve performance, wellbeing, and organisational effectiveness. It draws on occupational psychology, social psychology, and organisational behaviour to address questions about leadership, teamwork, motivation, selection, talent management, and the design of workplaces and work practices that support human flourishing alongside commercial success. At Keele University, this four-year full-time programme begins with a foundation year that provides the academic and scientific preparation needed before entering the main degree. The foundation year builds the skills and conceptual grounding needed to engage with degree-level psychology and business content. Across the full programme, you will develop an understanding of psychological theory and its direct application to working environments, studying areas including personality, individual differences, group dynamics, organisational culture, and the psychological aspects of management and leadership. Keele's interdisciplinary approach means you will also develop the business knowledge to situate these psychological insights in their commercial and organisational context. The typical entry tariff of 104 points reflects the accessible and inclusive character of the programme. You will develop research skills, psychological analytical capabilities, and the applied understanding of human behaviour in organisations that employers in management and human resources roles value. Graduates pursue careers in human resources, talent management, organisational development, training and development, occupational health, management consultancy, and general management. Many continue to postgraduate study in occupational or organisational psychology, which is the route to chartered status with the British Psychological Society in this field.
