BSc Business Psychology
About this course
Business psychology applies the theories and methods of psychology to the world of work, asking how people think, feel, and behave in organisational settings, and what this means for how businesses should be designed and led. It draws on cognitive, social, and occupational psychology to address practical questions about motivation, leadership, decision-making, team dynamics, recruitment, wellbeing, and organisational change. The field has grown substantially as employers have recognised that understanding human behaviour is as important as any technical competency. At the University of Chichester, this BSc (Hons) combines the core areas of psychology with key aspects of business and management, building your knowledge and understanding of how people function within the workplace. You will study psychological theory alongside its business applications, developing both the scientific literacy to evaluate evidence and the practical judgement to apply findings in organisational contexts. The programme includes a sandwich placement year and a work placement, giving you substantial real-world professional experience within the degree structure and ensuring that your academic learning is grounded in genuine workplace practice. It runs over three years full-time. Graduates of business psychology programmes enter roles in human resources, occupational psychology, learning and development, talent management, organisational consultancy, and marketing. Many go on to postgraduate study in occupational or organisational psychology, which is the route to chartered status with the British Psychological Society for those wishing to practise as registered psychologists in a business context. The combination of psychological understanding and commercial awareness the degree develops is highly valued by employers in the private, public, and third sectors.
