BA Business Management and Economics
About this course
Business management and economics is a combination that gives you both the analytical rigour of economic theory and the practical orientation of management education. Economics provides the frameworks to understand how markets work, how firms and individuals make decisions under conditions of scarcity and uncertainty, and how macroeconomic forces shape the environment in which businesses operate. Management study applies these insights to the real challenges of leading, organising, and developing organisations, developing the strategic thinking and interpersonal skills that professional management requires. At the University of Keele, this three-year full-time degree develops expertise in both disciplines in an integrated way. You will engage with micro and macroeconomics, quantitative methods, and applied economic analysis alongside core management topics including strategy, marketing, operations, human resources, and finance. The programme includes access to the Bloomberg Lab, equipped like a trading room, giving you hands-on experience with Bloomberg Professional Service, widely used in the financial industry. A sandwich year, year abroad, and work placement opportunities are all built into the degree, giving you substantial professional and international experience. The typical entry tariff is 104 points. Graduates from business management and economics programmes are well placed for careers in financial services, management consultancy, economic research, corporate strategy, investment banking, and business analysis. Many enter roles where both economic literacy and management ability are valued, in financial institutions, consulting firms, public sector organisations, and corporate environments. The Bloomberg Terminal experience adds a particularly visible credential for those interested in finance. Postgraduate study in business, economics, finance, or public policy is a natural continuation for those wishing to develop specialist expertise.
