About this course

Business enterprise and human resource management is a combination that reflects two of the most important dimensions of how organisations succeed. Business enterprise focuses on the creation and development of new ventures, the ability to identify opportunity, manage risk, and bring new ideas to market, whether in start-ups, established businesses, or public and social sector organisations. Human resource management addresses the people dimension of that challenge, examining how organisations attract, develop, motivate, and retain the talent they need to grow. Together, these disciplines give you a perspective on organisations that is both strategic and deeply human. At the University of Strathclyde, one of Scotland's most business-oriented universities, you will study both fields in depth over four years, developing an understanding of entrepreneurship, innovation, and venture creation alongside the HR principles and practices that shape how people are managed and led. The enterprise strand examines how entrepreneurs challenge existing markets and create new ones, covering topics from opportunity recognition and business modelling to finance and growth management. The HR strand covers recruitment and selection, employment law, organisational development, learning and talent management, and the strategic role of HR within business. The programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study at a partner business school in another country and gain an international perspective on entrepreneurship and people management. The typical entry tariff is 216 UCAS points. Graduates move into a wide range of roles. HR management, talent acquisition, organisational development, and people operations in businesses of all sizes are natural destinations for those drawn to the HR strand. Others use the enterprise focus to launch their own ventures or take up roles in business development, strategy, or consultancy. Further study in business, HR, or management is also a common route, and the combination of entrepreneurial and people-centred thinking is increasingly valued in organisations across all sectors.
