Business and human resource management is a combination that reflects the reality of organisational life, where the management of people is inseparable from the achievement of business objectives. At the University of East Anglia, this four-year programme incorporates a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study at a partner institution in another country and develop an international perspective on both business and people management. You will study core business subjects including strategy, marketing, finance, and operations alongside the specialist HRM curriculum covering recruitment and selection, learning and development, performance management, employment law, and the organisational behaviour theories that explain how people work and relate within organisations. The year abroad deepens your appreciation of how management practices and employment relations differ across national and cultural contexts, which is increasingly important in a globalised economy. Graduates from business and human resource management programmes go on to careers in HR roles across all sectors, including HR generalist, HR business partner, talent acquisition, learning and development, and organisational development. The business management element broadens the range of roles available, including management trainee, operations, and commercial positions where people management is a key responsibility. Many graduates also pursue professional qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Further study in HRM, business, or related fields is also a well-supported option.
