BSc Business and Artificial Intelligence
About this course
Business and artificial intelligence is a degree built for the present moment. AI is no longer simply a tool that businesses deploy: it is reshaping how organisations compete, how decisions are made, what jobs exist and what capabilities organisations need to develop. Understanding that transformation from the inside, with both the technical knowledge to evaluate AI tools and the business acumen to apply them strategically, is the distinctive competency this degree is designed to develop. At the University of Southampton you will study business and artificial intelligence over three years of full-time study, building leadership skills alongside a rigorous grounding in how AI and business analytics are applied to real commercial problems. You will learn to assess AI systems, understand their capabilities and limitations, and communicate technical insights to non-technical stakeholders, developing the dual fluency that senior roles in AI-transformed organisations require. A sandwich year and the opportunity for a year abroad significantly extend your professional and international experience, and work placement is integrated throughout the programme. The typical tariff of 168 reflects the combined analytical and technical demands of a degree that positions graduates for high-demand roles at the intersection of technology and business. Graduates pursue careers as data analysts, AI project managers, business analysts, product managers, strategy consultants and digital transformation leads across financial services, retail, healthcare, logistics, media and every other sector being reshaped by AI. The programme develops the ability to move fluently between technical and commercial thinking, a combination that is increasingly sought as organisations invest in AI capability. Many graduates go on to postgraduate study in management, data science or AI-related fields, building on the dual expertise of the degree. Southampton's strong industry connections support graduate employability directly from the outset of the programme.
