About this course

Accounting is the technical discipline concerned with the measurement, recording, interpretation and communication of financial information within organisations and to their external stakeholders. It is the language of business, providing the numbers and frameworks through which managers make decisions, investors evaluate companies, governments assess tax liabilities, and regulators ensure compliance. Accounting encompasses financial reporting, management accounting, auditing, taxation, financial analysis and the governance frameworks that ensure organisations are held accountable for how they use their resources. At the University of the Highlands and Islands you will study accounting on a part-time basis, attending scheduled classes and completing course tasks independently, either through work set by your lecturer or through independent study.
