BA Accounting and Business Analysis and Technology
About this course
Accounting and business analysis, combined with a focus on technology, addresses how financial information is produced, interpreted, and used to support decisions across organisations of all kinds. Accounting provides the language of business: it enables investors, lenders, managers, employees, and governments to understand the financial position and performance of organisations, and to make effective decisions on that basis. Business analysis and technology adds the dimension of how data, information systems, and digital tools are increasingly central to how those decisions are made and communicated. At the University of Strathclyde, this four-year programme is taught within a business school with a strong international reputation and a high entry tariff that reflects its academic standing. You will learn to prepare, present, and interpret financial information across different organisational contexts, including the annual reports of companies and the financial information within public sector bodies. You will also develop skills in reading and interpreting accounting information from a strategic perspective, becoming familiar with how financial data is used by those who manage all types of organisations. The programme includes a year abroad that broadens your international perspective on accounting and business practice. Accounting graduates from a programme of this standing are well placed for careers in financial services, audit, corporate finance, management accounting, financial analysis, and business strategy across a wide range of sectors. Many graduates pursue professional accountancy qualifications through bodies such as ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, or CIMA. The business analysis and technology dimension is increasingly valued by employers seeking graduates who can combine financial rigour with the ability to work with data and digital tools. Further study at postgraduate level in accounting, finance, or business analytics is also a common path.
